Game 19

Last Sunday’s SGC golf round at Ballantrae golf course was played in ideal weather conditions. Thirty-two players plus a guest relished a well scripted dreary day; few made it looked easy, others just simply enjoying company of other golfers but the rest of us while in the thick of things they called prize frenzy frame of mind, took pleasure in a business like sentiment. Scarce number of players could handle pressure and self-esteem while totally negating any frustrations after working for five days in a week prior to Sunday’s game. Sometimes when you get caught up in glitches of life itself, a release of energy like playing golf is one liberation to oneself that is admiringly revered. Ahhhh golf. Open spaces, fresh air, nice sceneries. Most golfer wives understandably hate it but a little massaging of the brain cures a bevy of things. Sorry, before I get carried away too much although I must admit for non-golfers of course they have their own way of enjoying their own summer or they’ll have to look for something else. At least we have something to look forward to every Sunday – an agreeable difference if you know what I mean.

Pretty soon racing daylight at the end of every Sunday’s round is expected to happen before long. What a blooming pity.

Here are the winners of last Sunday’s round:

Nassau: When I saw this guy’s front nine with seven pars, I thought this might be the big winner but surprisingly, Oscar J. took only the front. Mar DV had a convincing solo take of winning the back nine. Well how about this guy who kept on plodding along with consistent low scoring – Bong M. grabbed the overall tally by turning in the lowest net score of the day of 68.

Closest to the pin: Jimmy M. with a resounding shot on the sixth hole that beat all other; one fella after another got it close but to no avail until Saed J. shot the closest on the fifteenth.
