Game 7 at Carlisle

Last Sunday still had the trappings of another weather show at Carlisle Golf Club. Golf weather was so unpredictable that it started well at tee time but at the time we were concluding our round, the weather did us no favor at all. Most of us were ill-prepared and taken by surprise that all thirty-four players including one guest were all soaking wet because of the rain.

GTAA news: Heading into next weekend, SGC feels that members participating in the GTAA are in the position to be a little excited for reasons that this interleague event is happening on this very same venue. If not for the rain last Sunday, good scores turned in by members from previous engagement on this course predict a very good showing to give the big boys from other clubs a good run for their money. SOGA who happens to host this annual event marvelled that SGC has the most number of participants competing this year together with BIGAT. We are all set to compete. Good luck to all of us!!!

Sunday’s Game: A strong performance off the tee consistently left Saed J. in position to attack the harder two of the three nine-hole Carlisle course turning in a net score of 67 – the best of the bunch. SGC could probably use Saed’s game at this coming GTAA competition this Saturday but the nature of his work conflicts with the sched and that is just too bad. Special mention to Lina M. who signed for a net score of 70 tying three others for third place overall earning well deserved 27.5 points each.

Nassau: There was little hope of drama for the Sunday finish at the Carlisle golf course as astonishingly Sam K. made a sweep of the corners, well almost. With his net score of 68, it won him the overall and front. Sam also grabbed the back nine tied with Joey C. and Jimmy M. By far Jimmy again took the lowest gross score of 76.

Closest to the pin: Sounded like these two gents were cut out to winning this contest a regular habit. After winning one hole the last time we played here, Jun P. again shot the closest on fourth hole. Julio R. who happened to win one of the holes last week took the seventh.

SGC welcomes a new member Ed Tenorlas who happened to be the president of the now defunct Heritage Golf Club.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Please come early this Saturday for the GTAA event. Registration starts at 12 noon. If Joey C. receives a confirmed line-up list from SOGA in time, we will post it together with other info if there is any. Wear your SGC shirt with beige pants.
