Week 21

Well, well, well. Some Sunday this was. Congratulations to Sennix B. for carding a brilliant net of 63 last Sunday at Glen Cedars. He displayed an all-around game of golf most especially his short game according to JC M. who was in the same foursome with Sennix. He also took the low net back nine with Levi M. grabbing the front nine.

Closest to the pin contest winners: Manny C. ‘The Marksman’ took the third hole winning his second week in a row. Jimmy M. used his wedge to get very close to hole sixteenth.

POY news: Down the stretch and headed for home, it’s getting tight at the top folks with barely four games to go. Sennix M. with his low net 63 last Sunday, catapulted him to second place from fourth place. Mere three strokes separates him from Seho O. who is still holding on to the lead. For a short stretch of time, Seho’s idle machine is not firing at top speed thus opening doors for players with huge opportunity to catch up. Do not count out Joey C. and Jojo D. who sit third and fourth places respectively. Rey P. propelled himself to solo fifth place after a net of hard earned 70. Not so far away tied for seventh place are Nap P. and Jimmy M. eight strokes behind fifth place.  Anything can happen for the next four weeks with more stakes in the offing. This is where practice, practice and more practice would come about together with the mental toughness to garner the POY award. What a race this has become this year.

Idyllic weather greeted the twenty-four players who showed up. It did get a little nippy late afternoon. There were boisterous players all around the golf course. We suspect that this was a company event of some sort. They were so unruly that it was almost impossible to tee off peacefully not to mention the turtle pace of play. It took us three hours and a half to complete eleven holes.  Complaining to the Marshalls at hand did not do any good at all. The good side of this story was the winners let us forget the whole thing by treating us to drinks, fries and chicken wings after the round. Thanks also to Seho who brought grapes, cantaloupe, & sweet corn. Bingoy P. as usual was seen giving away candies and nuts. Nice to see Lina M. playing with us again.

We’ll see ya all this Sunday at Century Pines.
