All ground and water within the margin of a <\/span><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usga.org\/Rule-Books\/Rules-of-Golf\/Definitions\/#Lateral-Water-Hazard\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lateral water hazard<\/span><\/a><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> are part of the <\/span><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usga.org\/Rule-Books\/Rules-of-Golf\/Definitions\/#Lateral-Water-Hazard\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lateral water hazard<\/span><\/a><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When the margin of a <\/span><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usga.org\/Rule-Books\/Rules-of-Golf\/Definitions\/#Lateral-Water-Hazard\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lateral water hazard<\/span><\/a><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> is defined by stakes, the stakes are inside the <\/span><\/span><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usga.org\/Rule-Books\/Rules-of-Golf\/Definitions\/#Lateral-Water-Hazard\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">lateral water hazard<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">,<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> and the margin of the <\/span><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usga.org\/Rule-Books\/Rules-of-Golf\/Definitions\/#Hazards\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hazard<\/span><\/a><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> is defined by the nearest outside points of the stakes at ground level. When both stakes and lines are used to indicate a <\/span><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usga.org\/Rule-Books\/Rules-of-Golf\/Definitions\/#Lateral-Water-Hazard\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lateral water hazard<\/span><\/a><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, the stakes identify the <\/span><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usga.org\/Rule-Books\/Rules-of-Golf\/Definitions\/#Hazards\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hazard<\/span><\/a><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> and the lines define the <\/span><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usga.org\/Rule-Books\/Rules-of-Golf\/Definitions\/#Hazards\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hazard<\/span><\/a><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> margin.
